10 reasons why the Exit festival dance arena is one of the best rave spaces on Earth
This weekend, the 18th edition of Serbia EXIT partystarts in Novi Sad, in the south-eastern part of the Balkan nation. During those 18 years it has grown into one of the best known and most respected festivals in the world. In addition to bringing some of the biggest pop and heritage groups on the planet to its stages, EXIT is also famous for its exemplary dance music bookings – over the years it has flown in everyone from David Guetta and Deadmau5, To Carl Craig, green velvet and Nina kraviz to perform in front of the ever-dynamic EXIT crowd. And where are all these electronic music titans performing? In a space that is, for us, one of the best rave spaces on Earth.
Is he really one of the best on Earth ?!
Why, you might wonder, is EXIT’s Dance Arena up there with, say, Space in Ibiza, or Berghain, or Stereo in Montreal, Barbarella in Croatia, or Womb in Tokyo? Well, first of all the stage is set in a part of the sprawling Petrovaradin Fortress, in an artificial valley. In this valley, there is enough space for 25,000 people, at least two-thirds of whom will be right in front of the stage on the ground floor. What makes the scene even more interesting are its upper levels, which create an amphitheater-like space, so you can dance high up while you watch the stage and the people partying below.
Still not convinced? How about it lasts until 8am, and sometimes even 9am if they’re willing to push it. Around 6 or 7 o’clock is when the sun begins to rise, above the crowd, little by little. Catching a sunrise while dancing to your favorite DJ right at the top of the Dance Arena level is probably one of the best experiences I’ve had at the festival, on more than one occasion. It’s always breathtaking, whether you watch the crowd of Steve Aoki surfing in an inflatable or A-Trak shutting down the Dance Arena in temperatures of 95 ° F.
Unforgettable from preliminaries to climax
As soon as you are halfway between the main stage and the Dance Arena, you can hear the basslines pumping. As you get closer, the anticipation starts to build and everyone around you is buzzing with excitement. Descending that huge metal staircase and entering the teeming arena is enough to send you into a frenzy, whether it’s in the middle of the night, when the awe-inspiring Dance Arena production and their sassy dancers are in full flight, or in the morning. , when you’re faced with a sea of ââhalf-naked ravers, pumping so hard their sunglasses fall off – all refusing to stop dancing until the very last note is played (see Solomon’s videoof the 2016 RELEASE for proof). It’s not a slowly exhausting scene with just a few stragglers at the end, it’s the EXIT Festival Dance Arena, where everyone stays until the sweaty climax.
Still don’t believe me? Well, here are some of the best moments from the Dance Arenaâ¦
