The Institute Announces its Award Winners and Film Lineup for its 3rd Annual Blue Water Film Festival Event
June 2-5, 2022, on the occasion of UN – World Oceans Day with a total of 35
films – 18 feature films, 15 short films and 2 animated films.
Global Citizen Award
Jane Goodall will receive the Global Citizen Award, which is given to an industry leader
whose contributions to the innovation of marine science and entertainment and changed the
the industry for the better. The prize will be awarded online on Saturday, June 4 at
Brunch of the intercontinental filmmaker.
Feature films
The Blue Water Film Festival kicks off June 2 opening with Mike Libecki Inside Antarctica
as a special presentation by DELL Technologies. The festival will also make its national debut
Geographic Fire Of Love and The Territory Sundance Audience Award for World
Documentary cinema. A special outdoor presentation of Whale Wisdom led by Rick
Rosenthal will be presented by the Freedom Boat Club. The festival will close with Last of the
Right whales with director Nadine Pequeneza present in person for the question period after the
screening.

Founded in 2020, the Blue Water Film Festival celebrates UN – World Oceans Day on June 8th. The BWFF theme is about our blue planet; the aim of the festival is to encourage participants to think broadly about how climate change is affecting planet earth and deeply about universal concerns and the actions needed to bring us into balance. Approximately 50% of all film selections are non-US productions, helping fulfill the festival’s mission to promote cross-cultural understanding through film.
