Last night, Trey Anastasio Band descended on the main stage at the Peach Music Festival at Montage Mountain in Scranton, PA. The Phish frontman delivered a 14-song set paired with a single-song encore. During the second half of the main set, Anastasio welcomed Celisse on stage for three tracks. Saturday night’s show opened with a stretched “Blaze On” followed by a jammed version of “Sand”, a track that featured on Phish’s seminal 2000 album, Closed. Next, the ensemble moved on to Anastasio’s solo repertoire on “Mozambique” before a full launch on “Set Your Soul Free.”

“Olivia” came just before she revisited the Phish catalog on “Everything’s Right,” which featured an instrumental build that thrilled the crowd. Anastasio and his band jumped into the 2020s solitary journey then, landing on “…And Flew Away” before returning to Closed once again on the groove-laden “Gotta Jibboo”. For their next track, the set ripped “Ghost,” which appeared on the 1998 studio album, The ghost story.

The only song from Anastasio’s latest solo offering, 2022 mercy, came next when the set landed on “roll like a river”, performed for only the third time live. Then, as the show continued, they returned to Plasma on “Simple Twist Up Dave”, a song that Trey Anastasio Band originally debuted during their 2001 Stealth Summer Tour during a stop at High Ground in Winooski, Vermont.

Then a special moment happened when Anastasio welcomed Celisse on stage for a sit-in. Prior to the live collaboration, Celisse performed on the main stage during the afternoon, where she shared a story about her 2019 performance at the Peach Music Festival when Anastasio joined her for a handful of parts. The story alluded to the sit-in and sparked conversation and curiosity among festival-goers ahead of Anastasio’s set.

“The Moma Dance” opened the onstage collaboration, which saw notable vocal contributions from James Casey, Natalie Cressman and Jennifer Hartswick. At the same time, Anastasio maintained the lead and Celisse added his signature style to The ghost story Track. Celisse added to the 2019 LP, making his tracks welcome additions to the festival setlist. True to the theme, they released another number from the same album, but this time they performed “A Life Beyond the Dream” before capping off the set with a raunchy version of “Rise/Come Together.” For their encore, the group delivered “Carini”.

Following last night’s performance, Anastasio will resume Phish’s summer tour beginning July 14 with a two-night stand at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
