Dance at the Brisbane Festival

The Brisbane Festival is fast approaching (September 2-24), with a dance program heavily energized by exciting Qld artists.

Following its highly acclaimed premiere at Brisbane Powerhouse in 2021, Australasian Dance Collective is bringing back Consequencesan electric collaboration between ADC Artistic Director Amy Hollingsworth and choreographer/dancer Jack Lister, set to a searing score performed live by award-winning producer, singer and songwriter Danny Harley of The Kite String Tangle.

Consequences will come to Brisbane after a season at the Cairns Festival on September 1 and 2. After Brisbane, it will travel to the New Annual festival in Newcastle on October 1 and 2.

Brisbane’s Phluxus2 Dance Collective presents Angel-Monster, straight from a season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Choreographed by Nerida Matthaei, it is “a portrait, a requiem and a call to arms for sisters, mothers, angels and monsters”.

Proud Wiradjuri man Joel Bray rides from NSW to take Brisbane audiences “on a seductive, dirty and passionate journey through the true story of sensuality, below”, according to his show’s synopsis. Called Considerable sexual licensethis provocative dance-theatre show combines cabaret, comedy and choreography.
