Final preparations underway for the Magnolia Film Festival

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi’s premier film festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Final preparations are underway for next weekend’s Magnolia Film Festival in Starkville.

This year’s event will feature 40 films from filmmakers across the country.

They will present music videos, short films, short documentaries and feature films.

New this year: opening night at the Malco Theater in Columbus and a drive-in at Mississippi Horse Park.

Participants will also be able to attend workshops and question-and-answer sessions.

“As the longest running premier festival here in the state of Mississippi, we have been able to provide this opportunity for filmmakers not only from Mississippi, the country but from around the world. We gave them the opportunity to present their films in a very friendly environment. And it’s going to be a great event for people you know, talking about movies in the making and that’s what we want to offer our audience as well as an opportunity to meet filmmakers and learn more about the way they do their job,” said Chris Misun, director of the Magnolia Film Festival.

The festival will begin next Thursday, February 24, and will continue until Saturday.
