‘High probability’ for a performance by Troy Aikman during the Henryetta music festival | OR Additional Sports

Shelton’s popularity transcends the realm of country music due to her role as a vocal coach on NBC’s competitive music show “The Voice” and also because of her relationship with pop star Gwen Stefani.

“For (Shelton) to want to come here and be on the front page of this event – it’s going to be unlike anything that has ever hit this area,” Aikman said. “I’m lively. We want to make it a community event.

A crowd of 10,000 to 15,000 people is expected. The proceeds benefit a variety of education and community issues in Henryetta, an Okmulgee County community of 5,900 people. It became Aikman’s hometown – and it’s still called that – when he was in eighth grade and his family moved to Oklahoma from the Los Angeles area.

Aikman spoke to members of the media in Tulsa and Dallas after speaking to Henryetta’s student body. He graduated from Henryetta High School in 1984. Since 2001 he has been an NFL game show analyst for Fox Sports.

“I hope what I stand for (Henryetta’s students) is someone who makes them realize that anything is possible,” Aikman said. “Sometimes as children – maybe even more so today – there are a lot of things that work against you.

“To be able to look at someone who comes from the same place they came from and who has continued (to be successful), maybe that inspires and gives some optimism and hope to some of them.
