North Beach Music Festival: South Florida Performance & Daily Schedules!
We are one week away from the inauguration North Beach Music Festival in North Miami Beach on December 10 and 11 with Pigeons playing ping-pong, Spafford, TAUK, Le Motet, Marco Benevento and many more at the North Beach Bandshell.
Among these “many others” are four exceptional representatives of the South Florida music scene, so rich that its fountain is perpetually overflowing. For this exciting new festival, Electric Kif, The Heavy Pets, TAND, and Juke will also occur. The folks at Sunshine State already know what’s going on; it’s an introduction for those of you coming from out of town or out of state.
Electric kif live at the intersection of progressive rock, jazz fusion, trance dance and electro. Solidly established residence. This quartet has blown up stages and festivals across the Southeast and just toured the Pacific Northwest. Believe the hype: these gentlemen are insanely amazing! The electric Kif are: Rodrigo Zambrano, bass; Armando Lopez, drums; Jason matthews, keyboards; Eric Escanes, guitar.
Heavy animals are the kings of Florida’s longest-running jam bands, though they’ve kind of been on hiatus recently. It’s a delightful opportunity to see what this amazing quintet does with rock, funk, disco and more! They too illuminated scenes in the southeast and beyond; they were frequent travelers to Bear Creek and AURA. Heavy familiars are: Jeff Lloyd, guitar / voice; Mike garulli, guitar / harmonica / vocals; Jim wuest, keys / voice; Jamie Newitt, drums / vocals; and Tony D’Amato, bass.
TAND went from being a good group to a superb one. We noticed this last April at Fool’s Engagement, where we wrote:
Another real treat for the fools was the performance of TAND, yet another group that has reinvented itself with brighter facets to their music. I’ve always been a fan, but this set was on many quantum levels as they bit into some great progressive rock then some deep funk. Taylor godsey, guitar; Peter krause, bass; Ali nassar, drums; and Daryl wolff, keyboards (but no key-tar!) muscular through a very beautiful show.
As if that wasn’t enough, they have now added Mike Garulli (The Heavy Pets) to their lineup!
These three groups play on Friday. Join the Saturday programming are Juke, the masters of the South Florida blues. They call themselves a blues / fusion show and sound experience, post-blues. Both are correct but don’t begin to tell the whole story. They’ve always rocked the house with their roaring blues, including at the last Wanee Festival and numerous Orange Blossom Jamborees (all four bands are regulars there). JUke is led by a brilliant master of the harmonica Eric Garcia.
Daily schedules have also been published, with two stages and no overlap. You must not miss a single note!
