Tukee’s to host music festival and costume contest October 26 | Community focus

It will be a busy day at Tukee’s Sports Grille on Saturday October 26 as the local restaurant hosts its first-ever music festival and costume party.

The students of Ahwatukee Music Makers often perform in the valley for various charity events, but this is the first time they’ve teamed up with Tukee owner Steve Lippe and general manager Mark Rodriguez to host their own event. .

From 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., students, teachers and professional musicians from Music Makers will perform live music at Tukee’s. From 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the performances will mainly be individual students aged 5 to 15 years old. They will perform all types of music with various instruments.

Starting at 5 p.m., the music will be more of rock bands as Tukee’s prepares for his costume party later that night.

“It’s going to be awesome,” said Shelley Yakubow of Ahwatukee Music Makers. “There will be live music, great food and a chance to support art. These kids come every week and train for so many hours. It’s good to celebrate the music and the things these kids have accomplished.

During the music festival, 10 percent of all food proceeds will go to the Friends of Arizona Foster Children Foundation, a group with which Music Makers has been involved in the past. The foundation provides Arizona foster children with activities, educational needs, and other things that make life a little better in the foster care system. The group will have a table with more information about the organization at Tukee’s.

“We are called Tukee’s,” Lippe said. “It’s an Ahwatukee music festival. It’s a perfect fit. We’re entering our third year and we’re finally getting to where people know us, they can come here and find great service and great food… The community has been amazing to us. We are delighted to give back.

After the music festival, the festivities at Tukee’s will continue through the night with a competitive costume party. Tukee’s will be offering drink specials all night starting at 9 p.m. and a $ 200 prize for the best costume.
