Speaking to students and members of the media at a cheering rally on Friday, Aikman announced that country music star Blake Shelton has agreed to headline the inaugural Highway to Henryetta festival, scheduled for June 11 2022, at Henryetta’s Nichols Park.
Aikman is the driving force behind the festival. A crowd of 10,000 to 15,000 is expected, according to a press release, and the proceeds will go to educational and community initiatives in Henryetta (which became Aikman’s hometown in her eighth year, when her family moved to Oklahoma from the Los Angeles area).
â(Shelton) said yes in five minutes. I was blown away, âAikman said. âIt was one of those deals where I know Blake a little bit. I don’t claim to know him that well. I always felt that Oklahoma was really important to him, and it proved it to me. I don’t know if Blake has ever set foot in Henryetta, Oklahoma.
Artists from “other country music royalty” will be added to the festival’s lineup throughout the day, according to the press release that was distributed to members of the Tulsa and Dallas media who were in Henryetta.
In the same release was a quote from Shelton of Ada: âI’m excited to join my mate Troy Aikman for the first Highway to Henryetta – a great idea that benefits some great people.
