Woman dies after night out in Southport Pontins during music festival

A woman has died after being taken to Pontins Hospital in Southport.

The woman, in her 30s, died after being found unconscious in a room at the holiday park on Friday morning, police said today. North West Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the park at 7.05am and one person was taken to hospital.

She died in hospital, police confirmed. Pontins currently hosts the Bang Face Weekender dance music festival, which is held at the park from Thursday to next Sunday.

A spokesperson for Britannia Hotels, owner of Pontins, told ECHO: ‘May we take this opportunity to send our deepest condolences to the family at this most difficult time.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that officers were made aware of an incident this morning at Pontins Southport Holiday Park.

“It has been reported that a woman in her 30s was found unconscious in a bedroom at the resort. Emergency services responded and the woman was taken to hospital where she sadly died.

“The woman’s next of kin have been notified and the death does not appear suspicious. Our investigations are continuing into the incident and a file will be forwarded to the coroner.”

The organizers of Bang Face Weekender have been approached for comment.
